Torque Testing
Most installation specifications require testing for a maximum
“no load rotational breakaway torque” after the bearing is installed and staked.
We stock dial indicating torque wrenches and torque test adaptors for bearings from .187 inch I.D. to 1.000 inch I.D.
Other sizes are available on special order.
These wrenches feature a large easy to read dial with an indicator needle to record the highest torque before the
breakaway occurs. Accuracy is +/- 4% of actual indicated
torque and are calibrated in both CW and CCW rotation.
Torque test adaptors are manufactured from hardened
and ground alloy steel. These adaptors assure that torque
readings are on centerline and accurate.
It is suggested that “self lubricated” (TFE) type bearings
be misaligned back and forth and rotated a few times before
testing. This movement will guard against false readings
and result in more accurate inspection. Self lubricated
bearings have a tendency to “stick” in place after they have
been sitting for a while.
